Fairyland is coming to Winslow on Thursday, 3rd December 2009!

Winslow will become Fairyland for the evening of Thursday, 3rd December 2009 for the annual Christmas Fayre and Retail Evening. The Market Square will be transformed with the aid of a snow machine. Everyone is asked to dress up as their favourite fairytale character. There will be a competition and prizes for the best adult’s and children’s costumes.

Santa and REAL reindeer Santa Claus will be spending the evening in Winslow, with a special grotto in Jenny Wren’s café. While he is meeting the children, his beautiful sleigh will be parked outside in the Market Square and his REAL reindeer will have a well-deserved rest in their own pen. Make sure mum and dad bring the camera for a very special photo with the reindeer.

Tree Lights and Seasonal Treats To get everyone into the Christmas spirit the Mayor of Winslow, George Langley, will turn on the tree lights at 6pm. Then from 7pm – 7.30pm there will be carol singing led by the St Lawrence Church Choir. As well as fair ground rides for the children and a selection of community stalls; there will be live music from Paul French, a roving Jester and some fantastic Christmas activities to try your hand at, such as wreath-making and cookie decorating. In case you get peckish during the evening, there will be hot chestnuts, mince pies, mulled wine and a Hog Roast to feast on.

Christmas Shopping Activities don’t stop in the Market Square. Many of the shops will be open for Christmas shopping until 9pm, including the Beautifully Different Accessories, Delicatessen Estrella, No 8 Fashions, the Polka Dot Gallery and Truly Scrumptious. Local cafes will also be open.

And finally…don’t forget the Winslow Christmas Farmers Market on Sunday, 6th December for locally-grown Christmas Produce and more Yuletide fun.

Car Parking: Free parking is available in the Greyhound Lane car park, just 200 metres from the Market Square.
