This restaurant review was undertaken on March 17, 2008 Naidni (Indian spelt backwards) is an Indian / al a carte style restaurant for people who love creative food. We were welcomed by the owner Muj, a very lively character with lots of energy and lots of smiles.

Décor The décor is smart, modern, clean and fresh. The walls are cream with attractive spotlights with colours that change from romantic reds to relaxing purples. The chairs are stylish and comfortable. The tables are wide and chunky with lots of room for lots of plates.

Atmosphere We were seated immediately as it was a Tuesday and the restaurant was not overly busy. The place still had a buzz about it with pleasant Indian music being played in the background. Naidni has about 20 tables which makes it a comfortable size.

Food We started with traditional papadoms with a side of pumpkin sliced with garlic and onions which was simply bursting with flavour. Signature dishes include the Muji Special (£4.95) which consists of stir-fried garlic, cheese, mushrooms with chicken and lamb cubes. We also sampled the Chicken Pathe (£3.95) consisting of sliced chicken, medium spiced, wrapped in puree bread. Muj recommended the spicy papadom roll, lamb wrapped in a roll, marinated in cheese and garlic. The last named worked particularly well. It was light, tender and full of flavour. My guest ordered the spicy kebab, a lamb stuffed with puree. This had powerful flavours and we were immediately excited about trying the main courses.

For the mains we were recommended Lemon Rice (£2.25) which was fluffy and zesty but maybe came with a tad too much lemon rind. The Butter Chicken (£7.95) was creamy and light. We also ordered the fantastic tasting Kakra Jalfray (£10.95) which is fresh crab meat extensively prepared in a unique blend of spices, mixed with fresh onions, garlic and peppers with fresh green chillies, coriander and tomatoes. It also looked very impressive in the crab shell. Muj had made a good choice knowing I loved shellfish. It was my first curried crab and I will definitely be ordering this again.

Service The food came at just the right time every time and Muj could not do enough for you. He recommended all of our dishes, made us laugh and even sent out the chef Aladdin. Aladdin was charming, laid back and well presented. Aladdin wants to achieve the highest standards at all times and bring his skills from London to Milton Keynes.

Found the food to be of very good quality. Service was a bit poor and the extension of the decking to the front of the restaurant looked very nice. Carpets had certain seen their day though! Lynda Bentley, July 4, 2008
