The
Wool Shop - Bletchley Agora
Janice runs a colourful and compact wool shop in the
hidden Agora centre located on the high street of
Bletchley. Her cute shop will be 2 years old in October
(2009) which makes Janice very proud. Janice is from
Scotland and loves to knit and has done from a very
early age. She calls herself a “knitaholic!”
I asked Janice why she had started this business. It
transpired that a local Co-Op closed down round the
corner and she saw the opportunity to work full-time in
an area she was incredibly passionate about. Janice used
her savings to rent a space in the local Agora with the
help of her daughter Lauran who was studying interior
design at college. Janice attended many craft fairs
including Middleton Hall in the Centre:MK to get her
name known and build a good reputation locally. Word of
mouth soon spread.
Long gone are the days when Janice worked for 14
years in a retail shop with a well known super mark
chain. Her head admits that her past skills have helped
her dramatically in her own business to work hard and
make important decisions.
The scarf
Janice knitted MK Reviews a scarf with wool imported
from Germany Rico Design. It took her 2-3 hours to knit
and is 1.5 metres long. The cream scarf is a dream to
touch and when worn makes any winter outfit look divine.
It's so soft that babies would love to have a blanket
made for them the day they were born to sleep on. The
200 grams of wool is crafted with care showing off it's
fluffy white balls. Janice can make you a bespoke
version for just £12.95.
