exhibition took place in Woburn, next door to The
Black Horse, over the August Bank Holiday weekend (as

have been a little surprised to see some very artistic and

and author of over 40 cookery books, Mary opened the first
Winslow Farmers Market last year. She will be bringing a
copy of her latest book ‘Cook up a Feast’ to raffle and will
also be selling signed copies of this book at the Winslow

in the BBC2 series ‘The Great British Bake Off’ (Tuesday’s

to the fairway last month for a charity golf
day that raised over £500 for Macmillan
Cancer Support. Buoyed up by the success of
the day, the pub has announced a second
event at Millbrook golf course on Friday

raised for Macmillan will break through the
£1000 barrier.

Christophe
Perney has been appointed new head chef of
The Embankment Hotel in Bedford, the third
site, acquired last May, by Peach joint
venture partner and former BII Licensee of
the Year Andrew Coath. Christophe qualified
in France and trained in Paris under Joël
Robuchon and then at the Park Lane in London
before relocating to the UK. Attracted by
the prospect of holding sway in the kitchen
whilst having the support and energy of a
vibrant company like Peach behind him,
Christophe joined the new team being built
by Andrew at The Embankment. A totally new
look to The Embankment will be unveiled at
the end of March this year.

SNAP UP A DESIGNER DRESS FOR CHARITY, SAT 13TH

SNAP up a
Frock, an annual extravaganza of fabulous
designer dress shopping, champagne sipping and
lunching all for
charity, taking place of Saturday 13th
September. £8,000 was raised last year and this
year they're hoping to raise even

SEAFOOD FESTIVAL
AT SPOONERS 22 AUGUST (posted 24 July 2008) |

Spooners are
holding a fantastic Seafood Festival on 22
August. The new owners are holding several themed nights over
the coming months and this one promises to be
hugely popular. MK Reviews will soon be paying Spooners
another visit to see how the new management are
getting on since taking over the reins a few months
ago.

THE PLOUGH TAKES BUCKINGHAMSHIRE FOODIE AWARD

The Plough Wavendon,
who received perfect marks from MK Reviews
recently, has been voted "Buckinghamshire
Restaurant of the Year 2008" by the Foodie
Square Guide and it's readers. Jonathan Todd, owner of The
Plough, is "extremely proud of this latest
award" in what is The Plough's first year trading. |

Roast, we strongly recommend you sample their

Italian dishes! One of the few independent

Brickhill should definitely be on the 'must try'
list for anyone who likes a taste of Italy. |

new Living Room in Central Milton Keynes.
Both the restaurant and the bar look fresh and
this place should be a real winner in the trendy

accounts Spooners Restaurant in Woburn is a
pretty unique dining experience and we will be
visiting this
restaurant soon having heard that it has changed
hands recently. The new management are
maintaining many of
the traditions of Spooners, established since
1984, but are also bringing a taste of Russia to
what looks an
exciting menu. Watch this space! |

NEW
MENU FOR HARPURS.....(posted 19 May 2008) |

Harpurs have updated
their menu because the hunting seasons are
over and all game has been removed from
the
menu. Their new menu will run until the end
of the summer, then the autumn menu will begin. An
interesting addition to the menu is the kangaroo
steak with chilli and coriander and raspberry and
rose petal
mille feuille. Weather permitting, they are also
planning to have barbecues in their new garden
area. |

Living Room Group Ltd announces the official opening of the
latest The Living Room Restaurant and Bar at
thehub:mk, Milton
Keynes on 30th June 2008. The new site will form part
of the dynamic new
development of
offices, hotels, retail outlets, cafes,
bars/restaurants and apartments situated in the
centre of Milton Keynes.

CONSERVATORY WORK NOW COMPLETED AT THE GEORGE

The main
restaurant at The George Inn, Little Brickhill
is situated in a conservatory and connections,
who
have won numerous awards for their food, are
always keen to make improvements where possible.
A new false ceiling
has been installed ensuring the room is
warmer and cosier in those winter months.
