EMBANKMENT TOY APPEAL
SURPASSES ALL EXPECTATIONS

In launching its
first ever Christmas charity appeal, it was
always The Embankment’s hope to be able to make
Christmas better and brighter for the many local
children being looked after by Keech Hospice
Care. The aim was to get two toys each for the
200 children in Keech’s care but the fundraising
event, held on Friday 12th November
at the pub, saw over 4,000 toys donated and a
whopping £5,000 in cash, plus another £12,000
from the auction.

wine from Puglia, our beloved home in the south of Italy.
Head Chef Robert has put together a menu featuring dishes
typically cooked and eaten in Salento, the Lecce region. On
Thursday 25th November, a Sommelier from Sapori's Italian
wine suppliers will welcome you with tastings of wines from
Puglia so that you can choose what to drink with your meal.
These same wines will be available on the Friday night also.

With just over eight weeks to
go until the big day, The Embankment Bedford is already
getting into the Christmas spirit. This year the team at the
award winning pub is planning on making a very special
delivery to all the children at Keech Hospice Care for
Children down the road near Luton. It is asking locals to
pop an extra toy into their baskets while out Christmas
shopping, drop it off at either the pub or the local Keech
Hospice Care charity shops in Bedford, and the team will do
the rest.

Cancer Support. Buoyed up by the success of
the day, the pub has announced a second

EMBANKMENT HOTEL

Christophe
Perney has been appointed new head chef of
The Embankment Hotel in Bedford, the third
site, acquired last May, by Peach joint
venture partner and former BII Licensee of
the Year Andrew Coath. Christophe qualified
in France and trained in Paris under Joël
Robuchon and then at the Park Lane in London
before relocating to the UK. Attracted by
the prospect of holding sway in the kitchen
whilst having the support and energy of a
vibrant company like Peach behind him,
Christophe joined the new team being built
by Andrew at The Embankment. A totally new
look to The Embankment will be unveiled at
the end of March this year. |

had been voted in the top ten of riverside pubs
in the whole of the United Kingdom in a Sunday
Telegraph pole. This is no mean feat but no

pretty unique dining experience and we will be

restaurant soon having heard that it has changed
hands recently. The new management are
maintaining many of
the traditions of Spooners, established since
1984, but are also bringing a taste of Russia to
what looks an

Harpurs have updated
their menu because the hunting seasons are
over and all game has been removed from
the
menu. Their new menu will run until the end
of the summer, then the autumn menu will begin. An
interesting addition to the menu is the kangaroo
steak with chilli and coriander and raspberry and
rose petal
mille feuille. Weather permitting, they are also
planning to have barbecues in their new garden
area. |

is situated in a conservatory and connections,
who
have won numerous awards for their food, are
always keen to make improvements where possible.
A new false ceiling
has been installed ensuring the room is
warmer and cosier in those winter months.
