If you are looking for a fun, relaxing restaurant to enjoy a
nice meal then La Tasca is the place to go. The restaurant had a
warm atmosphere, original food with very friendly staff.
The dishes were perfect for a varied and satisfying meal. We’d
also recommend popping in for a snack at the Spanish styled bar.
You have a choice of over 30 tapas dishes, paellas and a wide
range of Spanish beers and wines.
We started with
warm bread, olive oil and balsamic vineger. The bread was soft
and made a good start to the meal. We were offered a chilled
San Miguel beer which
was light and refreshing in taste. On recommendation we tried 3
dishes each to start with and if still hungry, we could order
some more, or save ourselves for the desserts.
We chose the following:
Paella de
Pescado £3.85,
Paella with squid, prawns and mussels,
served with lemon.
This
dish was particularly tasty and a good choice for all seafood
lovers. Make sure you squeeze the lemon all over for the perfect
taste.
Croquetas
de Pollo £3.85,
Croquettes
of chicken served with garlic mayonnaise.
The chicken was tender and when
dipped in the garlic mayonnaise had a lovely full flavour.
Paella
Valenciana £3.85
(GF)
Traditional paella rice with mixed seafood and chicken.
We had to try the Paella. The portion was a slightly on the
small side, so we ordered another. This is the beauty of tapas
- you can order another dish and within moments it will arrive.
Patates
Bravas con Queso Fundido £4.25 (V),
Fried potato, topped with a
spicy tomato sauce, plus melting cheese. The perfectly
cooked potatoes were covered in a sauce that melted in your
mouth. We could have eaten these all day long!
Chorizo
Frito al Vino £3.85,
The spicy
Spanish sausage, sautéed in red wine.
The sausage was tender and we used
our left over bread to mop up the sautéed red wine sauce. Yummy!
Albondigas
a la Jardinera £4.15
Our famous
Spanish-style meatballs, served in a vegetable & tomato sauce.
The meatballs were a delight. The peas were a little unusual but
the dish was cleaned spotless all the same.
Tarta de
Pera y Canela £3.95 A
warm cinnamon pastry tart, filled with a sweet pear compote,
topped with light almond frangipane and half a pear and served
with organic vanilla ice cream.
I would not
normally order a tart, but the accompanying ice cream
complemented the pastry. I was not too keen on the warm fruit
but this still remained an enjoyable finish to my meal.
Tarta de
Queso con Chocolate
Negro y Blanco £3.95. White and dark
chocolate cheesecake.
The description of this dessert implies that there would be lots
of dark chocolate, however I found the topping was dark
chocolate with the main base, a sexy milk chocolate. I would
recommend this dessert to any chocoholic.
