When
you think of Revolution you probably think of a busy bar to go
to on a Saturday night for cocktails. I recently found out that
they serve a value for money menu that is perfect for a quick
bite to eat at lunch or when meeting friends for a few quiet
drinks.
Décor
This modern bar has recently been refurbished. Comfy leather
chairs & curved booths surround the huge centralised stainless
steel bar. Revolution has a modern gothic feel with chandeliers and
patterned fabrics.
Atmosphere
An early Wednesday evening visit was extremely quiet with just a
few people popping in for drinks as they finished work. The bar
had a nice atmosphere with chilled background music.
Food
The menu has a varied range of simple bar food from burgers &
chips to sandwiches and refreshing salads.
Nachos – freshly cooked tortilla chips layered
with Monterey jack cheese, Revolution chilli vodka salsa,
guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos and spring onions.
Choice of Spicy Cajun chicken, chilli con carne
or roasted peppers. Small £4 Large £6
Wow!
Small = massive!! This was a generous portion to share between
two people. It was fresh and came with plenty of dips for the
crunchy tortilla chips. This is great value for money. Enjoy as
a starter or a snack to pick at when socialising. A large
portion would be plenty for 4 people.
Ranch Burger – smothered with Monterey jack
cheese, cured back bacon and barbeque sauce, sesame seed bun,
baby gem lettuce, chunky chips and a pot of homemade coleslaw.
£5.50
I could tell immediately this was a freshly made
burger. You could compare it to a homemade one, full of flavour.
The chips were light, fluffy and not greasy.
8 oz Sirloin steak – chunky chips, rocket leaves
and a shot of béarnaise sauce. £9.95. When our order of steak
arrived I was a little disappointed. The steak looked grey and
the homemade chips were overcooked. When mentioning this to the
waitress she was completely happy to order a fresh portion.
‘Take two’ looked much more appealing. The steak
was cooked perfectly and the homemade chips were swapped for
chunky chips which were delicious. We would of course, have
marked the food much higher had we not had to send the first
attempt back to the kitchen.
Being a dessert lover I was looking forward to
this:
Brownies - my eyes lit up when the well decorated
plate was placed in front of me. The brownies were soft, warm
and moorish.
Cheesecake – the cheesecake was beautifully
presented and was much more than I expected from a pub menu. It
was light and fluffy served with a portion of cream.
The dessert was the highlight of my meal and
Revolution is worth a visit to try these!
Service
All staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was served
quickly and staff continued to check if we needed more drinks.
I was presently surprised by the food at
Revolution and definitely recommend a visit. The menu is really
good value for money and they offer many promotions.
