Having attended Wilton Hall for a
work party some ten years ago, I was intrigued to see how this
entertainment venue was doing a decade later. Had there been any
changes and would my guest have a good time? We booked a table
for 730 on a "Dirty Dancing" night.
Décor
We arrived at Wilton Hall to be
greeted by 10 ladies dressed in pink – the first of many hen
parties we saw during the evening. This group were certainly
ready for a night of fun! After entering the main entrance, the
corridor leads you to the main hall displaying Roman statues
engraved into the clean, cream walls. Our table was located at
the back of the room with a clear view of the large stage. The
lighting is well positioned showing off the sleek establishment.
There are many large tables filled with helium balloons and
parties. The bar is located to your left and the buffet is very
close by. Make sure you have a look at the rear garden as this
is impressive.
Service
The staff keep an attentive eye
on your table ready to serve you your drinks or you can choose
to order drinks at the bar – it’s up to you. The waiters and
waitresses are friendly to the guests and many of them are part
of the owner’s family. Lots of passion and care is evident in
the service. The owner Tony is liked by many and he makes it his
mission to please the hundreds of guests. He has a presence and
plays enthusiastically to show people a good time.
Atmosphere
We have to give full marks to
the venue and the themed "Dirty dancing" night as they were a
huge hit. The male lead singer enticed the ladies to go crazy
many times during the evening by gyrating and blasting his
vocals through the microphone. The compare also held
competitions and quizzes to involve the crowd in games supplying
giveaways including vouchers and drinks. My guest was having a
great time.
Food
There is a good selection of
food to be had at the buffet before the show but it did
disappointing slightly in terms of quality. This is not the
venues strong point as the food seems to be there as a filler
before the show. In fairness though, for £25 you cannot really
complain. With brilliant entertainment on offer and drinks
reasonably priced – you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a good
time. There are a couple of inviting dishes, including the cold
meats, the brie cheese and the tasty potatoes. But visit Wilton
Hall with an open mind as the venue changes it's food on a
regular basis.
Our experience was a good one
and will certainly be going back to see Alvin Printwhistle
(Elvis), Queen and the Michael Jackson impersonators in the
coming months. The price is represents good value for a fun
evening that involves a good dance and a mix of energetic
dancers. If you have yet to visit Wilton Hall you should
certainly consider going soon. Make sure you speak with Toni who
may let you sample one of his excellent Italian Espressos. |
