This review was undertaken in
January 2008.
My Food Consultant
and I booked a table for two on a Thursday
evening.
Upon arrival I was
shown to my seat was asked for my drinks order. My colleague
Peter joined me shortly after. The initial drinks
service was prompt and efficient. Overall
the aperitif was a refreshing change for what I thought would be
a pub meal.
The starters were
slow to arrive but there was a party of 60 upstairs enjoying a
corporate event.
I had chosen the
Sausage and Chorizo Skewers with Garlic Mayonnaise and Salad.
Peter chose the Pea Soup. The sausage, drizzled in garlic, was
excellent and the chicken tender. The Pea Soup was a lush green
and was a delight with chucky rustic bread (warm and freshly
baked).
For the main course
we chose the 8oz Rib Eye Steak with Fries and Vine Tomatoes and
Salad. I asked for my steak medium rare. It was cooked to
perfection. The meal was complimented with the House Chillian
Merlot (Tierra).
My colleague opted for the
Salmon Fillet and Spinach Rissoto . Although the risotto was a
tad sticky the salmon was light, not overcooked and flaked well.
This meal was great
value for money. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were
very helpful. This made a delightful change for the Theatre
District.
The Slug & Lettuce
is certainly worth a try before a night out in central Milton
Keynes. A much improved bar and restaurant under new management
and particularly good value for money. |
