The Swan is only a ten-minute ride from Central Milton Keynes.
It is a lovely Edwardian pub in a picturesque village.
The pub is open every day from 11 am until midnight. The
management take great pride in serving the best ingredients,
freshly prepared by the chefs, with a selection of specials
throughout the week with an abundance of choice.
There is a warm feel in the bar from locals having a quiet
drink, with people coming to try the deli boards and those, like
me wanting a good hearty meal.
The menu is a
little pricey so we opted for just mains and desserts.
I fancied a
steak so I tried the 28 day, dry-aged 16oz Aberdeenshire T-bone
Steak, Fat Chips, Peppercorn Sauce, Button Mushrooms and
Watercress for £20.00. My medium, well cooked steak, drizzled in
an amazing sauce, melted with every mouthful. The chips were non
greasy and crispy, just the way I like them.
My guest loves
sausages so tried the Lanford’s Award-winning Sausages and
at Mash £9.50. The meat was scrumptious and the potato was
steaming hot, purified and very creamy, perfect with brown
sauce.
Desserts
The puddings were another highlight. It didn't seem to matter
that the chocolate fondant had split its sides, it was yummy.
£5.00
The Baked Honey Cheesecake, Rhubarb Compote was truly amazing.
The warm, soft texture melted in your mouth. I wanted another!
£5.00
Décor
The pub is fresh and clean with lots of space. They have a great
island with plenty of fresh bread being served.
Atmosphere
The people in the bar seemed genuinely friendly and the
atmosphere was helped with some nice chilled music playing in
the background. Not loud but easy to listen to.
Service
The waiter James was very prompt and always kept an eye on
our table even when busy. He gave eye contact at all times and
knew when we were finishing each course and each drink. He was
knowledgeable on the specials and was well prepared. Outstanding
in my book or my website!
Overall the
Swan is a fantastic treat any day of the week. The staff were
great and the food worth travelling for. Roll on the summer so
that I can sit outside and enjoy their nice garden. |
