Coming soon to Milton Keynes Theatre district is the hearty Brazilian hospitality of Rodizio Bar and Restaurant. Rodizio launched their first restaurant in Northampton in September 2008 and they now want to offer Milton Keynes their food for you to enjoy time after time.

A Rodizio is when one pays a fixed price and the waiter brings an offering of meat to each customer several times throughout the meal. There is also a selection of traditional dishes and salads available from the all you can eat hot counters.

We decided to give Rodizio in Northampton a try. This restaurant has a particularly modern theme. Blue florescent lights are dotted around the eating area from the floors to the circular ceiling. A live stage with flashing lights and Brazilian flags can be seen from your seats. Plasma screens were noticed on the walls (although I am not sure this is such good idea). Bamboo pillars and walls surround the restaurant which contains extremely comfortable chairs. We had a great view of the stage ready for the live acts to appear.

As you may already have gathered, Rodizio is different to most restaurants you will visit. A red and green disc is placed on your table. The red side states "Just resting" whilst the green states "Feed me". Waiters patrol the restaurant with skewers of fish, chicken, beef and more. When you are ready for the meat part of your meal, you simply turn the disc to green. The waiter will arrive and cut with a huge knife the meat you require. The staff looked smart and clean in their black uniforms and everyone was polite. The massive knife looked dangerous but careful handling makes the cutting look effortless.

The restaurant became busy from 8:30pm onwards and lots of tables became joyous. Two Brazilian dancers entered the stage and danced to the South American beats. I am not sure, but I thought I heard a fake crowd played through the speakers. All the same, Rodizio is ideal for group bookings. A Brazilian guitarist was next to arrive on stage and played some wonderful music. His voice and accent was a joy to listen too.

Back to the food. After choosing your meat the rest of your meal is help yourself from the all you can eat buffet with salad bar. You will find Brazilian butternut squash,  Brazilian cassava, pastas, chillies in oil, calamari, Brazilian red devil rice, Brazilian stir fried vegetables cooked with wine and garlic sauce, tomatoes with olives, fries, bread, haddock, scallops with prawn spaghetti and fried banana.
