Come and try some great things to eat and drink at the Farmers’ Market at The Swan, Salford, on Sunday 28th June

23 June 09: The Swan at Salford near Milton Keynes is doing its bit to champion great local food and drink producers by holding a fantastic farmers’ market at the pub this coming Sunday, 28^th June.  The event takes place between 9am and 1pm, with lunch served in the pub afterwards if you feel like whiling away the rest of the day in The Swan’s beautiful garden or vibrant eatery.

Having won a great reputation in the area for serving good food and drink since opening, the team at The Swan is keen to give something back to the local community by bringing together some great local producers of good food and drink. Swan manager Leanne Langman takes up the story.

“This is a great way to support really outstanding local producers who bring so much to our tables through the fresh fruit and vegetables they produce and the delicious preserves and other treats they make. Here at The Swan, we make a point of using only the best quality produce and always try to buy as much as we can from local suppliers. 

“The farmers’ market is going to be an excellent way to promote the amazing local produce we have in the area.  We’ve got a great line-up for the day, from home-made jams to bedding plants and vegetables - there really is something for everyone.  This is a great opportunity for people to come and buy the best of the best.”

On sale on Sunday will be a wonderful array of excellent locally produced food and drink including homemade jams, chutneys and preserves from Humber’s; beautiful plants and fresh seasonal vegetables from Cleverly Horticultural Enterprises; delicious sweet and savoury pies from Harvest Foods, ready meals from Tastebox and great pork pies from Woburn Country Foods.  

Why not come along on Sunday 28^th and make a day off it?  Stock up on fresh, locally sourced produce from the market and then let us look after you for the rest of the day.  We’re serving our great new summer menu, with a wide selection of mouth-watering fresh seasonal dishes as well as a cracking Sunday roast, served this Sunday and all day every Sunday until 5pm.

Relax on our stunning sunny patio or under a shady pergola, order a glass of perfectly chilled wine and peruse the summer menu.  You’ll be spoilt for choice – summer ratatouille pancakes filled with creamy goat’s cheese sauce, Moroccan spiced lamb steaks with mint and chickpea couscous and lemon crème fraîche, free-range chicken breast with roast summer vegetables and pesto pappardelle, and vanilla crème brulée are just some of the lovely summery dishes on offer.

As well as this Sunday, 28^th June, The Swan will be hosting a farmers’ market between 9am and 1pm on the last Sunday of every month.  So make a note in your diary and don’t miss out!
