Starters
We shared a 22 and a 32 from the
Oriental bites section from the menu. The huge selection is
mounted on the wall next to the counter. The menu has a similar
look to another well known brand (no names mentioned here). Salt
and pepper prawns £4.70 and skewered satay prawns £4.70 caught
our eye.
The salt and pepper prawns
looked good sitting on the onion garnish. My first bite tasted
flavoursome but unfortunately the prawns had sizzled on their
hob too long as they arrived over cooked and chewy.
The skewered prawns had the same
problem - over cooked. Not a good start to our first Wok2go
experience.
Hopefully the mains would
impress. Here we found a selection of fish, red and white meat
dishes. I could not resist the chicken £5.00 with (number 63)
curry sauce whilst my partner asked for a number 48. Chilli
shredded beef £5.80 accompanied by a side of boiled rice £1.80
and stir fried noodles £2.50 to share.
The chicken was moist, holding
lots of flavour. The curry became spicy after a number of
mouthfuls and offered a unique zingy taste. The large portion of
crispy beef is juicy and soaked our fluffy rice with a splendid
sauce. The noodles looked and tasted fresh and partnered well
with all of the mains.
The basic concept works very
well and despite being disappointed with our choice of starters
we will certainly be returning soon. Kids are well catered for
too with the Miniwok. They can have chicken or fish goujons,
rice, a fortune cookie and a bottle of still water and prawn
crackers for just £4.90.
Wok2go aim to deliver your meal
within 45 minutes of receiving the order. All delivery orders
(minimum £10) need to be prepaid by debit or credit card (all
major cards accepted). Cheques are not accepted and if the
weather is poor the delivery times may be longer.
